New LoRaWAN Gateways from Milesight

UG65 and UG67 LoRaWAN gateways from Milesight

The "all-rounder" gateways. The new LoRaWAN® gateways of the UG65 and UG67 from Milesight leave hardly anything to be desired - they are the multi-talents among the gateways. They network entire buildings from the basement to the top floor, closed areas - such as a company premises or even small towns.

A gateway is used to set up a long-range, proprietary LoRaWAN® wireless network via which sensor data can be received.
LoRaWAN® gateways can be used indoors or outdoors, depending on their design. A gateway is the base station for up to 2000 battery-powered wireless sensors/ LoRa nodes. The exact number depends on the frequency of the up- and downlinks of the end devices.
With the UG65 and UG67, Milesight offers next-generation LoRaWAN® gateways that can be adapted very flexibly depending on the application.

The UG65 Gateway

UG65 is a robust 8-channel LoRaWAN® gateway for indoor use and is suitable for wall or pole mounting as well as a desktop device. The dust- and waterproof properties make the LoRaWAN® gateway UG65 also versatile in industrial environments. Thanks to the built-in components such as the 512 MB DDR4 RAM and the NXP 64-bit quad-core processor, the UG65 offers excellent performance and enables fast data processing. Based on Semtech SX1302 with support of SF5 &SF6, the new generation of LoRa chips can handle increased traffic volume with less power consumption. In doing so, the UG65 LoRaWAN® gateway can receive data from 8 terminals simultaneously and support up to 2000 terminals. The LoRaWAN® protocol has built-in collision avoidance. This takes effect when two or more devices try to send their data at the same time. The range is up to 10 km in line-of-sight conditions and about 2 km in urban environments.

The UG65's backhaul connectivity is special, staying connected via Ethernet, cellular and Wi-Fi to deliver encrypted data around the clock. The gateway's high compatibility with other components and systems sets the UG65 apart. It features an embedded network server. Is compatible with LoRa Basics™ Station and AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN®. Which means nothing else than that the gateway supports MQTT, HTTPS and other protocols. Likewise, it is compatible with all common mainstream network servers.

For demanding outdoor applications - the UG67 gateway

The UG67 is also a robust 8-channel LoRaWAN® gateway - but for outdoor use. Equipped with an IP67 housing and PoE-PD (Powered Device), the UG67 Outdoor LoRaWAN® gateway is perfectly suited for use in harsh outdoor environments. With the SX1302 LoRa chip and powerful quad-core CPU, the UG67 supports connectivity to more than 2000 nodes. It achieves a range of up to 10 km. The embedded high-capacity capacitor enables the UG67 to keep working and sending alarm for 1 minute in case of power failure.

BACnet/IP support allows real-time data to be seamlessly integrated into building management systems (BMS). LoRaWAN® serves as a data channel to control applications, requiring no changes to the BACnet protocol, network, or BACnet-enabled devices and management systems.

Like the UG65, the UG67 supports multiple backhaul connectivity with Ethernet, Wi-Fi and cellular to deliver encrypted data around the clock. The already integrated LoRa, cellular, Wi-Fi and GPS antennas, can optionally be supplemented with 2 additional external LoRa antennas to further improve signal coverage. And with the built-in network server, the UG67 also supports Semtech's latest packet forwarder. The gateway is compatible with multiple network server platforms such as AWS, TTN, ChirpStack, Loriot, Senet, Actility and Everynet, providing a wide range of options for data processing.

Both gateways are characterized by their high performance and extreme compatibility with other components and systems.
They can be used in a wide range of applications - from building management systems to smart farming applications.
