Topic: Energy and consumption data monitoring via LoRaWAN® - from the meter to billing

Wednesday, 24.04.2024 | 14:00-15:00 CET | free of charge

Energy and consumption data monitoring, remote meter reading and the EU Energy Efficiency Directive. Together with Dipl.-Ing. Heinz Syrzisko, Head of Department Wireless Solutions of our partner IMST and Beate Firzlaff, Business Development of ROCK5, we will talk about how you can easily implement the EU Energy Efficiency Directive with LoRaWAN. We will be presenting our "Together for Tomorrow" solution package. From setting up the corresponding infrastructure and the appropriate hardware components (smart metering kit) to the IoT platform for metering applications for digital remote meter reading.

Remote reading is a technology that allows consumption data from electricity, gas and water meters to be read remotely from the meter. This can be beneficial for companies and organizations that must comply with the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and the Heating Costs Ordinance, as it allows them to closely monitor and analyze their energy consumption.

Learn how to identify potential savings and take measures to reduce energy consumption and increase energy efficiency.

Facility/building managers as well as technical building service providers, submetering companies and/or utility companies in general.

Contents of the webinar

The current Energy Efficiency Directive, which has been in force since December 2018, sets the target of reducing primary and final energy consumption at EU level by 32.5% by 2030. These reduction targets are based on measurements from 2007, which serve as a reference for the expected energy consumption in 2030.

In Germany, this EU target was implemented by the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) passed in November 2023.

Various measures are required to achieve the objectives of the EU directive.

One of these measures is that consumption data from electricity, gas and water meters is to be read remotely in future. The implementation of this goal requires new technologies and solutions. One suitable technology for this is LowPowerWideAreaNetwork radio technology, in particular LoRaWAN. In combination with appropriate hardware and software, the implementation of the remote reading policy is possible with comparatively little effort. We have therefore teamed up with strong partners and developed a comprehensive solution, which we will present in the webinar.

Our part of the solution plans and implements an IoT infrastructure (LoRaWAN network) tailored to your application - from the sensor to the gateway. Once the infrastructure is in place, IMST offers the appropriate WM-BUS Range Extender or the iOKE868 Smart Metering Kit to collect all data from consumption meters and transmit it to the LoRaWAN network. The IoT platform developed by ROCK5 then sends all the metering data collected directly to your billing system or your customer's system in the appropriate format.

Sounds too good to be true? Get to know our complete package solution and see for yourself how uncomplicated energy and consumption data monitoring via LoRaWAN can be.
