Milesight WT102: Battery-free LoRaWAN radiator thermostat for smart buildings

With the Milesight WT102, Milesight is launching a real highlight in the field of intelligent building automation: a LoRaWAN-based radiator thermostat with integrated energy generation. What makes it special is that the device is completely battery-free and maintenance-free.

Regular battery replacement for conventional thermostats represents a significant maintenance and cost factor, especially in larger properties such as office buildings, hotels, residential complexes, or public facilities. The WT102 completely eliminates this expense.

Self-sufficient through thermal energy generation

The WT102 uses the temperature difference between the radiator and the surrounding environment to generate its own electricity. This thermal energy generation eliminates the need for external batteries.

For operators of office buildings, hotels, residential complexes, or public facilities, this means:

  • Reduced maintenance requirements and fewer service calls
  • Significantly reduced ongoing operating costs
  • More sustainable building management without old batteries

Optionally, the device can be connected and configured via USB-C.

Dynamic precision control instead of static setpoints

Unlike traditional thermostatic heads with fixed setpoints, the WT102 works with an integrated, high-precision NTC temperature sensor. Continuous temperature measurement is combined with an intelligent stepper motor control that automatically adjusts the heating water flow.

The result:

  • Constant room temperature
  • Preventing overheating
  • Noticeable energy savings
  • Increased user comfort

Smart energy-saving features

The WT102 offers integrated functions for optimizing energy consumption and actively responds to its environment:

  • "Window open" detection: If there is a sudden drop in temperature, the thermostat automatically closes the valve, preventing energy from being wasted on heating the street.
  • Automatic frost protection: When the temperature drops below a critical threshold, the valve opens, preventing the pipes from freezing and causing serious damage.
  • Heating schedules: Up to 16 individual schedules can be set so that the heating is adjusted to employees' working hours or the arrival of guests.

This makes the system ideal for applications such as office buildings, hotels, or educational institutions.

Easy installation and LoRaWAN integration

The thermostat is compatible with M30 × 1.5 mm valves and, thanks to the adapters supplied (RA, RAV, RAVL, etc.), can be used with around 99% of common radiator valves. Commissioning is convenient thanks to NFC configuration via smartphone, and support for LoRaWAN Class B mode enables fast response times to remote commands. Firmware updates can be conveniently installed via FUOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air).

Robust and secure for professional use

Designed specifically for schools, hospitals, office buildings, and hotels, the WT102 features:

  • Robust metal housing
  • Child lock and tamper protection: Prevents local, manual changes.
  • Anti-theft protection: Can be attached to the valve with a special anti-theft ring.
  • Protection class IP30: Adequate protection against the ingress of solid objects.

The WT102 is therefore not just another smart radiator thermostat, but a strategic tool for reducing energy costs and increasing operational efficiency, whether for hotel modernization or sustainability projects for residential complexes.
