Smart City Neu-Anspach

m2m melita and new anspach

One network - many possibilities

The town of Neu-Anspach is now one of the first towns in the Hochtaunus district to have a comprehensive IoT network based on LoRaWAN. Together with the companies melita.io from Berlin and m2m Germany from Wehrheim, the town has set up this pioneering wireless network. It offers the possibility of connecting a wide variety of sensors and generating and analyzing information.

Many smart city applications can now be realized via this network. Whether remotely readable water meters, sensors to measure the moisture of the soil for plants, or the display of occupied parking spaces or the control of lighting on streets, this network opens up many possibilities.

Gateway installed in Neu Anspach

The first step is made

After the first step, the installation of a flood early warning system, many desires were aroused and the decision was made to expand the system across the board. This step clearly shows the orientation of the town of Neu-Anspach towards a digital future.
The flood early warning system already in use has made it clear how useful the use of LoRaWAN can be.

In the past, streams and rivers in parts of the Hochtaunus district have often risen so high after heavy rainfall that flooding has occurred, including in the town of Neu-Anspach, where the River Usa burst its banks.

The city reacted to this and had a flood early warning system installed based on LoRaWAN radio technology. Technology partners were m2m Germany and melita.io.

Markus Wolf, responsible for Technical Services and Landscape, confirms the decision to expand the network, saying: "I am pleased about this forward-looking step of our city, we show that digitization has a wide benefit. Many applications will be implemented in the future."

In order to drive forward the expansion of LoRaWAN technology and provide Neu-Anspach with LoRaWAN coverage, gateways were installed on various tall buildings together with the Neu-Anspach fire department.
