Important announcement about Milesight LoRaWAN gateways of the UG series

Discontinuation (end-of-life) of selected gateway models in the UG series

m2m Germany, as one of the largest distributors for Milesight products in Europe, announces the discontinuation (end-of-life) of selected product models of the UG series, which the manufacturer has decided due to factors such as technology upgrades, changing market requirements and product replacement strategies. The affected EOL products will no longer be offered for sale by Milesight with future updates.

All product variants of the UG56, UG65, UG67 with Cat.4 module and order code -L04EU will be discontinued and replaced by the new EN18031-certified Cat. 1 module with order code -L08GL.

The UG67 without LTE/4G uplink will also be replaced by the new, identically priced UG67 with LTE Cat.1 module due to declining demand. The UG65 without LTE/4G uplink UG65-868M-EA will remain available.

Gateway models affected

As part of m2m Germany's EOL management, we would like to use this communication to proactively support our customers with system integration and to help identify and minimize any risks associated with product discontinuations or product changes.

The following models are discontinued:

UG56-L04EU-868M UG56-L08GL-868M
UG56-L04AF-915M, UG56-L04AU-915M UG56-L08GL-915M
UG65-L04EU-868M-EA UG65-L08GL-868M-EA
UG65-L04AF-915M-EA UG65-L09NA-915M-EA

UG67-L04AF-915M, UG67-L90RI-915M, UG67-915M UG67-L09NA-915M

The following frequencies are supported

The new LTE Cat.1 module supports all global frequencies, with the exception of those for North America:

LTE-FDD: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/66 LTE-TDD: B34/38/39/40/41
GSM: B2/3/5/8

Significant differences between LTE Cat.1 and LTE Cat.4

  • Data rate and performance:
Although LTE Cat. 4 offers higher speeds than Cat. 1 with up to 150 Mbit/s downlink, LTE Cat. 1 with 10 Mbit/s is completely sufficient for IoT applications and is therefore a middle ground between low-power wide-area technologies such as NB-IoT and LTE-M and the high-speed mobile communications standard LTE Cat. 4.
  • Lower energy consumption:
LTE Cat.1 scores with lower energy consumption and lower costs.
  • Regulatory requirements and certifications:
The new Milesight LoRaWAN gateways with Cat.1 module fulfill the basic EN18031 requirements according to article 3.3d and 3.3e (cyber security) of the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU. The corresponding certificate (EU type examination certificate) is available from us on request.

We regret any inconvenience caused by this announcement. However, we look forward to meeting future product needs with our high quality product lines to meet the changing demands of the industry at all times.

The new gateways from Milesight are available immediately, while remaining stocks of the old generation will be sold off while stocks last.
